We all know the benefits of exfoliating our skin – cell regeneration, improved circulation and unclogging the pores. But, to be honest, until recently, it just wasn’t something I often thought to do while bathing or showering. However, since I’ve realized all the amazing benefits of salt scrubs (epsom salt, essential oils and organic oils (such as jojoba and coconut) are amazing for your skin) I’ve made a point to use a salt scrub once a week and I have noticed wonderful results.
Soften tough skin with a moisturizing sea salt scrub. This is a very simple recipe, but gives fantastic results. It leaves the skin soft, refreshed and renewed. Use sea salt that doesn’t have rough, sharp edges. The texture of the sea salt should be fine and gentle to the touch, as you don’t want it to scratch your skin but gently exfoliating the dead skin cells.
Sea salt on its own is an excellent exfoliating treatment, and many expensive spas use similar recipes, but it is so easy to make it at home, so you must give it a try. It also uses essential oil which adds extra benefits for your skin.
Sea Salt Body Scrub
- 1 cup fine sea salt
- 1/2 cup carrier oil such as apricot kernel, almond oil or grapeseed oil
- Place the sea salt in a jar, add the oil and then add the essential oil. Stir all ingredients until well combined.
- Store in a cool area.
- To use, dampen your body and use your hands to massage the mixture into your skin. Avoid any wounded or scratched areas.
- After massaging rinse with warm water. drops of essential oil of your choice
Plan on using 2 parts salt to 1 part oil. For example, you could make a salt scrub using 1 cup of salt, and 1/2 cup of oil. After that, you can add more salt if it is too wet, or more oil if it is too dry.
